“Brazilian Soundscapes. 21st Century Music for Flute and Piano” is a world premiere recording and celebration of exciting new music that explores new sonorities, challenges the performers with intricate rhythms and exposes the listener to a wide range of expressions. Performed by international prizewinner Brazilian flutist Danilo Mezzadri in collaboration with pianist Elizabeth Moak, this CD includes works by Januibe Tejera, André Mehmari, Ricardo Tacuchian, Liduino Pitombeira, Paulo Dantas, Maurício Ribeiro, and Márcio Steuernagel.
As
a rule, he only does things he can’t help. “When I’m obsessive, I’m
compulsively obsessive,” he said with a grin. Because of Kvitko’s
obsessions, the music world is listening closely to the sounds coming
from his third-floor home studio, perhaps the most unusual room in
Lansing. Kvitko lives with his partner of 13 years, businessman Jim
McClurken, in Potter House on Cambridge Road, near Moores River Drive.
“He’s
going to put Lansing on the recording map,” MSU cello master Suren
Bagratuni said. “He’s a great contribution to our musical world here.”
“He’s an unusual guy, a Renaissance man,” remarked Richard Sherman
principal flutist with the Lansing Symphony.
Blue Griffin is proud to present this unusual collection of rarely recorded works for two cellos by Couperin, Barriere, Haydn and Handel performed by an international duo of Suren Bagratuni and Ling-Yi Ou Yang.
